... it hasn't happened yet. I don't know - I asked Ray-kun to help me out on that and he said that it's possible that the gods don't know because it's never happened before. They might suffer a temporary elimination like us - so they can be killed, but they'll come back at the end to rule over the new world.
[ . . . ]
It's - part of why I'm letting everyone think I'm with Beauty.
Maybe if they think I'm with him, they won't vote for him. I... don't want to see him get hurt.
.... you know it almost wasn't like this. I didn't hear this directly from a god, but I'm going to verify it myself next week but -
.... Apparently before all this, the gods weren't sure how to decide the competition. It was Ruin's idea to make it like this - dying in order to be eliminated. Cunning, Disorder, and Ambition agreed with that. Justice was threatened into agreeing, and Indulgence apparently agreed too - but possibly because he didn't understand the consequences. That means Merriment, Beauty, Sincerity, Love, Piety, and Fortune were against it. They needed someone to break the tie.
It was Piety's idea originally, actually. He's the one who suggested they use a third party, and then Ruin ran with it.
[ piety is
very upset about this, understandably. ]
It turns out that all the gods who were against it could have abstained from participating, but if they did then that meant only the ones who agreed would be playing. So that's why they're in this despite not liking the rules... to stop one of the others from winning.
[ ... ]
I guess that explains why Merriment said he didn't trust Patience though.
We can make offerings to the people who are gone, apparently. Sincerity doesn't know when they'll get to them - at the end of the game or sooner, but maybe....
Though... Sincerity is really nice, but doesn't always have the best ear for detail. So I'm gonna try asking some of the other gods too.
... I'm going to be honest. A lot of them are fairly likable, but I don't think they'd be the best choice to win this.
If we don't want to end up fucking up a whole world, we should probably think more about who would actually be a good leader versus who we like the most.
It's a decision we'd have to make as a group, but we need to figure it out sooner rather than later just in case the gods start dropping out of the competition.

It'll be one thing if it was just something they couldn't say yet, but...
[ but flat out having no fuckin idea is ????? ]

... but she did specifically say that they become vulnerable, and she doesn't know what that means only that they want to avoid it at all costs. So.

I don't like that - at all.

Patience did - and that's how we ended up here.

You're right but - that'll be even harder to convince everyone.

I like Ambition but... I think she'd be happier if she just learned to let go of some control, actually.

Don't say that too loudly or Ryugasaki-senpai will materialize out of thin air on a white horse to make us do something else stupid and extravagant.
