.... mm, Shishimaru and I lived together before we came here, so I was used to having a roommate before...
[it is also where he disappears to at night because he actually isn't used to sleeping in a room by himself anymore, but. he always comes back to the house anyway, because it's comfortable and - ]
... I can't say I've had anything like this though. My family situation is... um, complicated. So....
[ having heard as much from taka, that particular news doesn't surprise majima. no, the most shocking thing is the revelation that senri has just put forth, which visibly catches him off guard. ]
Whoa, uh... [ this? wasn't a suitcase he was expecting to unpack??? ] Glad it's workin' out for ya?
[and he means this sincerely, even if it's just dumb stuff like asking majima to wear a certain kind of funny apron, or being able to live in a cozy home in the suburbs together that has all the basic amenities and a television....]
I guess I was just thinking about that - so I wanted to say thanks, for being up for even going along with it.
[ he rubs the back of his neck awkwardly. he really isn't used to talking with people so... genuinely. it's only really happened once before, but even though those experiences were only a little over a week ago, it almost feels like another lifetime after all that's happened here. ]
[senri pauses like he's trying to decide what he wants to say.... and he settles for a little laugh and he shakes his head even as he goes to retrieve a bowl from the cabinet.]
It might not be to you... but - mm, I don't want to make it weird? [because he knows that none of them really signed up for the actual family dynamic and yet,]
But I don't want to pretend that it's not important to me....
So... maybe I should just leave it at thanks.
I heard that that's pretty common anyway - when you do small things and don't realize how much it can impact another person.
[ so far, with the exception of his outburst from last week, majima has known senri to be boisterous, cheerful, and outspoken. that makes this shift in tone so striking to him—so much so that he's left speechless by this sincere show of thanks.
[senri's a pretty peppy person - and he wears his emotions on his sleeve. but it seems like being around this suburb has made him more subdued, and the time with their pseudo family a little bit more thoughtful, if only in the house.
he's - nervous that he made majima uncomfortable so he settles for]
Do you want some cereal too, Majima-san?
I'd offer to make breakfast for everyone, but my skills are pretty subpar...
[ he can't exactly relate... which leads him to say, without really thinking about it too much, ]
I dunno, sounds like ya had it pretty good to me. Can't say I knew anythin' like that when I was your age. I was too busy bein' dumb an' thinkin' I was hot shit.
I can see that too, though. I don't think that one way or the other is really better - I'm just a commoner at a rich kid's school, so even if I'm grateful for the opportunity, sometimes I miss people with common sense...
[even taka can get swept up in the stupidity sometimes]
Majima-san at fifteen.... Will you tell me more about what you were like?
[it's okay if he doesn't but - senri's admittedly curious. it's easily read on his face.]
[ it's at this point that majima pulls out a chair and takes a seat at the kitchen table. more out of habit than anything else, his hand goes to his pocket to take out a cigarette... but he thinks better of it. it's rude to smoke within your own home, in front of your family.
(ha.) ]
Not really much to say, honestly. Me an' my sworn brother were just punks who got in way over their heads. We went from bein' street urchins to joinin' the yakuza... an' it's all been downhill from there.
[ . . . . and senri will glance down at majima's hands, and his expression will fall into a slightly tired smile. he reaches out to place his hand over majima's, if only for a second.]
.... Shiks was playing the game for her partner. I thought it was really selfless of her, and I think that's true about Majima-san too, even if your bro isn't your wish.
[and he'll pull his hand back and offer a smile]
I think he'll be really happy to see you. I know I would be.
[ he startles as senri touches him, because... he isn't all that used to physicality that isn't related to violence. it's weird. not unwelcome, to be honest, but... weird.
to try and deflect, he loosens up and leans back in the chair. ]
Tch, ya don't count. You're just happy to see me, period.
[and senri pauses and just moves his cereal around in the bowl, mouth falling into a flat line]
.... I want to ask for yours, but I know that's unfair.
Wanna trade for something else? I think I've learned a lot of really interesting things, and I want to be as helpful to the people I care about as possible.

Is that why ya bother comin' back here first thing in the morning?

[and even then he tries to sneak in so his pseudo family barely even know he's gone. but,]
... well, we had a really nice cafeteria in our school too. I liked being able to eat with my friends, and see people first thing in the morning.
[he really is kind of a very lonely bunny]

[he agrees to that way too easily]
The teachers at my school are all pretty strange too - I don't really get anyone in the whole academy to be honest....
It's been a while since I had an adult that I thought I could rely on around.
[even though that adult is still. majima.]
I hope it isn't weird for you.
no subject
[ he doesn't want to outright say "you really shouldn't." ]

I think this whole place is "somethin'".
[and he'll match majima's tone for that..... before he seems to have another question]
Actually, Majima-san... I was wondering - how much do you know about Madopyon? I was really happy when I noticed that you care about her a lot....
no subject
[ ... it makes him smirk, though, but that quickly fades into a more somber look. ]
We talked a lil' after what happened with Shiki-chan. She told me about her... bein' a magical girl an' shit.

looks down at his cereal before taking a bite]
... me too. She's really open...
... and she told me her alignment too.

[ looks at him. ]
What about you, Nito-kun?
no subject
.... I can't tell you.
Because I'm trying to help someone, but if I lie to Majima-san, then that means I'd make Majima-san have to repeat my lie.
But if I tell Majima-san the truth, I'm scared I won't be able to help the person I want to help.
So I've been letting people believe what they want, and not telling anyone otherwise if they're wrong.
Sorry....
