Here, I take a lot of photos because of what I have to do for work. If I don't keep up a social media presence, I'm pretty easily forgotten. I live in Japan - Tokyo, precisely. I go to Shinonome Academy with Bakaomi, and we're part of the Special Class which is the super elite, basically? You get in via testing, but also there's a scouting process to make sure that there's a lot of talent pooled into each year.
No, Aimi's an idol - we're sort of the same sector, but not really? I'm a stage actor, so I do more theater performances whereas she does music and a couple of other stuff.
But... yeah - my school is pretty weird.
[he snorts]
They figured out this new weird tech that lets you peer into dreams and put on performances inside those dreams? It's soooo weird - but if you graduate at the top of the class, you get a whole lot of perks, so we have to do well anyway.
Huh. Sounds pretty advanced. They kept tech in the orphanage pretty dated—stuff like an iPod and a Gameboy were pretty much the fanciest things I could get, and even those were hard to get a hold of.
[because the method he got them through was bad.]
Anyway, what kind of performances? Shakespeare type stuff, or musicals, or...?
Oohh - yeah! Everyone has phones like mine. And if you wanna play more modern games, Justice is fixing my Switch.
[WHICH TAKA FUCKING BROKE,, but he'll pull up his photo album and start swiping through photos of Tokyo! senri goes around pretty frequently, so there's a bunch of super aesthetic pictures in there. skylines, cute cafes, desserts, some of what looks like a school campus or backstage....]
... What kind of console is the Switch, anyway—wait, why is it broken?
[but yeah the switch came out after 2015, ergo ray doesn't know what it is. oops.
... though in a way, this is a surreal experience. looking through photos of random scenes on a phone. had he, emma, and norman been born into this world instead, is this the kind of thing they'd have been doing?]
Taka dropped it in the snow like an idiot. [he huffs] But it's a pretty new one! It's portable but also one you can hook up to the TV? It's pretty neat. When I get back, let's play.
[but senri will keep just swiping through - his life on display for ray. it's so painfully normal.]
Yep - one of the best. They call me the hope of the theater. It's why I even got a chance to attend Shinonome. My grades aren't the best, but I'm talented.
Traveling is expensive... and I get paid well from shows, but these days it all goes straight back to making sure I can eat and keep up at the academy. But I do want to go to New York or London one day! They have really big performing scenes - Broadway and West End.
When I was a kid, I really wanted to see the Mona Lisa and the Sagrada Família. [surprise, ray is actually a giant art/architecture nerd, apparently.] Well, I guess it doesn't matter anymore, though.
he just smiles at that, though it's not exactly a happy one.]
... You asked once, in the first week here, why I was so prepared to deal with death. You seemed kind of confused when I explained, but—well, I guess you came to some kind of conclusion.
Anyway, you're not too far off if you guessed that the orphanage was a front. It's just that it wasn't a war we were being sent to.

Humans and demons agreed to split the world because they couldn't coexist, and they were tired of fighting. There was one problem with their solution, though.
... Dividng Earth, on its own, only benefits humans. For the demons, that would've meant separating them from the species they fed upon.

[just saying.]
Anyway, you're from Japan, right? What it's like?

[but senri will hum at that]
Wellllll - oh!
[he'll actually fish out his phone?]

What do you do? Are you like Ai and Love?
[that whole, uh, idol business.]
I know how some of school works from novels and what Madoka told me. Is yours different?

But... yeah - my school is pretty weird.

Yes and yes.
I can do it all - it's what I'm known for.

You must be pretty good, then.

[probably less so for senri but eh.]
Do you get to travel?
[while he's been genuinely curious throughout the conversation so far, it gets upped a notch here.]
no subject
Don't remind me.
[UGH - ]

Zo is from the States - you can ask her about it!

... how come? You can't go to normal Earth at all...?
no subject
Theoretically, yes. On a practical level, though, there's a reason Earth was divided to begin with.

[this is so weird for him to even wrap his head around]
no subject
To put an end to a war between humans and demons. [surprise!] The humans got one half, and the demons got the other.
no subject
Demons...? But - then why aren't you in the world with humans? Or -
[that has to be the case, right? if ray didn't know anything about senri's world directly....]
no subject

But....
[demons...]

[he laughs, just a little.]
I have no idea how he came up with that one.

[unfortunately]
