[he shrugs.]

I got the feeling when we first met that Hector and I aren't dissimilar, so it doesn't surprise me.

Nope. She wasn't an option, and I doubt I would've picked her even if she was.

Well, it would've depended on the definition of "ruin".

[cheery?]

Let me guess: she's not interested in the type of world. She just wants the power and control that comes with being the ruler of the gods. Or did she say something different to him?

Huh. Well, she said something like that to me too, but in a different context. That she values initiative, and those who don't take it deserve to die in this competition. That the world runs on "kill or be killed"—if you don't want to be disposed of, be strong enough to do the disposing.

It wouldn't hurt to ask Takaomi, though.

Anyway, don't feel like you have to walk on eggshells around Hector—at least not because of his alignment. I suspect he picked it because of the kind of world he comes from, though I could already tell you even without his alignment to be wary of him.

That said, if I'm right and he and I are anything alike... Well, as her follower, he's probably going to be obliged to kill at some point, but I wouldn't be surprised if he regrets his choice now. [he smiles grimly.] You don't escape from someone like Ruin unless you're prepared to die or you know you'll succeed.

I asked Beauty which gods wouldn't take losing followers well, and Indulgence was on the "maybe, but hard to say" side. It sounded like Ruin and Ambition were the unambiguous ones, however.

Well, I'll admit I'm biased here, though.

[because he may or may not have been speaking from experience.]

But if I were a Ruin follower, I'm not sure if I'd want to risk it.

I didn't, but I can ask a god or two about it, if you want.

Blame whoever decided on this system.

Yeah, and I think they should've spent way more time working out the details.

However, that means if being eliminated is legitimately dangerous for them, then I'm interested in confirming the reasoning behind that.

I mean, the chances of that aren't necessarily insignificant.

[will ray ever stop insulting senri? stay tuned.]

Easy solution to that, then: just agree with me.

All right, then don't. Problem solved.
