[Sasuke hates this fucking logic so much. Like... biggest pet peeve honestly. It reminds him terribly of Naruto, of how no one ever gave Naruto any credit, including himself, while Naruto did nothing but become stronger. He hates! this logic! Because it’s true.
So all he can do is look sour the entire way out of the carnival and back.
Senri can just, like, rest easy in knowing he’s right while Sasuke vehemently denies it being right.]
[Senri seems to think about saying something - but thinks better of it, instead turning to Sasuke with a curious look and a smile.]
Hm?
What could you want to see from me?
[he's pretty realistic in the sense that there are very few things that he can do better than Sasuke aside from just default being friendly and kissing a lot of ass]
I'll ask Piety and Cheri too, just in case but... I have to go back to Cheri eventually, Sasuke. Or whichever god is going to win this. I have something I want too.
[Leave it to Senri to just boldly ask. Sasuke instead, would rather smother in his own worry for however long, not bothering to ask, too scared of lies. He frowns at the defeat, at the tease. He’s going to toss Senri off the ferris wheel next time.
After a few hesitating moments of their walk, he reluctantly pulls out his coin. It’s tarnished way more than Senri’s.]
[Well, this definitely ruins what little bit he had going for him earlier, and it also ruins the fact he looks nice!! His face is lemon levels of sour and irritable, and OFFENDED even if Senri is right in calling him out. He’s being mocked!!!]
Would you shut up? Do what I say, not what I do. We don’t know if there’s a punishment for it besides people knowing. So don’t defect again unless it’s necessary. You just said you had something you wanted too, didn’t you?
Do you even listen to yourself? I know that you've been switching around so it doesn't bother me - but I will be bothered if something happens to you because you keep messing up your coin.
[POUTING INTENSIFIES]
You always make me worried because you do crazy things on your own. I'm right here, so rely on me more.
[Sasuke Uchiha never listens to himself and that is half the problem.]
You'd just get in the way and make things more complicated. I don't understand why you're so worried what happens to me. If I'm gone, that's just one less person standing in the way of your victory.
[senri's brow furrows at that and he does the same thing he did as when he went to see sincerity and reaches out to press his cold fingers to the back of sasuke's neck - though this time also to get his attention and make sasuke face him]
We're both winning.
This isn't last man standing, and I'm not going to treat you like some stupid sacrifice on the way to the finish line. So don't insult me like that.
[The hand is chilly, but it's less the cold and more the touch that makes him stop. He grabs Senri's wrist and pulls it away, but doesn't let the wrist go.]
How are we both going to win when only one god can be chosen as victor and you and I know neither of us care about the same god.
We don't know if there can be a tie. They probably have fail safes for that.

There's a few gods that I don't mind winning - why do you think I'm trying so hard to fix their relationships? So that no matter who wins, all of them will be taken care of, and the world can be a little more balanced than if one just decided to take the reins without concern for any of the others. Their squabbling is why they brought us all here in the first place, and leaving them the same way that we started is stupid.
[Senri doesn't try to pull his wrist away, instead meeting Sasuke's expression evenly.]
... but I'm going to switch to the god that wins. Every god I've talked to knows that, because I have something I can't give up.
I know that you want to leave this world behind in a way that'll be stable. I want to, too. It's why I'm working the way that I am - there's nothing that puts us opposed to each other.
You're wasting your time. [He says it before even thinking a lot about it, and it isn't that he disagrees or thinks the idea is stupid. It makes too much sense, and he doesn't want to consider the possibility it's the easiest way.] You're going to fix their relationships for--what? A week?
When we leave, then what? Something else will happen, and they'll be arguing again. Their world won't be--
[senri is mentally prepared to hide another bruise all week, it's fine.]
You don't know that. [though he'll actually reach out to place his hand over where sasuke's gripping him, fingertips touching the back of his hand lightly] You're getting worked up and mad at something past me again.
[his brow furrows]
... people can change, you know. Over time, with enough pressure and incentive, they can learn how to fight their own flaws.
Even if they're killed in this game, they come back at the end to help rule over the world. We have to convince them to change, Sasuke. Or else it'll be exactly what you're saying anyway.
[The additional touch gets him to realize he's being a little rough, and he quickly releases Senri's arm fully.]
This is--stupid. We're not here to fix their damn relationship problems. [He's a fighter, not a mediator! That was Sakura's job! She was the balance between his hyper-focused talent and Naruto's exponential spirit, not to mention their headbutting.] None of them are even trying!
[He keeps going then, clearly angry, though not at Senri. He doesn't wait at all, pace steady, and he doesn't look back.]
People don't change. They never change. My brother proved that to me.
[ah - senri will follow after and even despite how rough sasuke was being with him, he'll try to latch onto his arm again anyway....]
.... I know it's a lot to ask, after what you've been through, but just try to give people a chance.
Or at least trust me - because I think the gods are trying. They're listening to me, little by little. [i don't want to start another pc for this so like accept the timey wimey] Dizzy and Cunning went out because I told her to try to be a little more vulnerable. Bambi and Piety went out because I told Bambi to try making friends with other gods. If we can get through to the gods that are a little high-strung, I think it'll work.
You don't have to take care of them like I do - but please just don't make it harder for me....
[Believe it or not, he doesn't have the energy to untangle himself, so as long Senri just holds on and doesn't bother him, he leaves the clutch as it is.]
Now you sound like Sakura. [He hates this.] Shouldn't all of that be the girls' jobs? [Help, he's being awfully Dude, though not necessarily because he thinks it's to girly to be emotional. Well, sort of.] They're better at it anyway, aren't they?
The gods would be more willing to listen--
[He can't even say that. No one believed Estelle when she was yelling about him destroying Justice... He frowns.]
.... you know I think Ray-kun and Bakaomi are the only people here better at getting information than I am - but I'm the only one who knows how to repair relationships. I don't know if you'll find anyone better, and I'll be kind of offended if you think there is.
Why are you so bothered? That it's me?
[when this is the one thing that senri thinks that he's exceptionally good at, and it's working?]

Fine, show me yours too though.
[and senri will pull his coin out of his pocket, slightly tarnished]
Did you think I lied to you about swapping?

Don’t defect again. Don’t defect unless it’s absolutely necessary. Understand?

but also that expression makes him worried?]
Hey - I'm okay.
[he puts his own hand over sasuke's? it's still cold.]
Justice said it's just so that people can tell how many times you've defected - I was surprised too but...
What's that face for?
no subject
I don’t trust it. Not even if Justice explains it. So don’t do it unless it’s necessary.

I kind of like it when you worry about me. It's cute.

[UGH]
What if I told you the same thing that you told me? [he changes the tone of his voice to match sasuke's pitch] Don't defect again. Understand?

Ahh, you're such a jerk. I'm worried too but I wouldn't try to control you like that.
