senri pauses when taka holds onto him too, and maybe his heart beats a little faster? he shakes his head and stubbornly puts his face back in taka's hair before he thinks about how his cheeks feel warmer]
[ one of the things that the... experience left him with was a feeling of just how very easily someone can slip out of your grasp.
none of them will remain dead when this is over. but he decided, more firmly than ever, that he's going to make sure senri gets that prize without having to die. ]
[ eventually they both have to actually get up and go out and make rounds.
so it's later in the evening. taka is back in the room, sitting on the floor with his back against the bed. it's all good he's just chilling. he hasn't taken the jacket off yet. ]
What I mentioned before - finding out which gods are better at certain gifts than others. I already found out Indulgence - items - and Ambition - getting around the rules.
But we're gonna split up the remaining ten.
I want to take Beauty, Sincerity, and Fortune. Ray-kun will take Love, Justice, and Ruin. He can take Cunning depending on whether or not you want to - but are you okay taking the last three?
So that'd be Merriment, Piety, and... Disorder, I guess.
... it hasn't happened yet. I don't know - I asked Ray-kun to help me out on that and he said that it's possible that the gods don't know because it's never happened before. They might suffer a temporary elimination like us - so they can be killed, but they'll come back at the end to rule over the new world.
[ . . . ]
It's - part of why I'm letting everyone think I'm with Beauty.
Maybe if they think I'm with him, they won't vote for him. I... don't want to see him get hurt.
.... you know it almost wasn't like this. I didn't hear this directly from a god, but I'm going to verify it myself next week but -
.... Apparently before all this, the gods weren't sure how to decide the competition. It was Ruin's idea to make it like this - dying in order to be eliminated. Cunning, Disorder, and Ambition agreed with that. Justice was threatened into agreeing, and Indulgence apparently agreed too - but possibly because he didn't understand the consequences. That means Merriment, Beauty, Sincerity, Love, Piety, and Fortune were against it. They needed someone to break the tie.
It was Piety's idea originally, actually. He's the one who suggested they use a third party, and then Ruin ran with it.
[ piety is
very upset about this, understandably. ]
It turns out that all the gods who were against it could have abstained from participating, but if they did then that meant only the ones who agreed would be playing. So that's why they're in this despite not liking the rules... to stop one of the others from winning.
[ ... ]
I guess that explains why Merriment said he didn't trust Patience though.
We can make offerings to the people who are gone, apparently. Sincerity doesn't know when they'll get to them - at the end of the game or sooner, but maybe....
Though... Sincerity is really nice, but doesn't always have the best ear for detail. So I'm gonna try asking some of the other gods too.
... I'm going to be honest. A lot of them are fairly likable, but I don't think they'd be the best choice to win this.
If we don't want to end up fucking up a whole world, we should probably think more about who would actually be a good leader versus who we like the most.
It's a decision we'd have to make as a group, but we need to figure it out sooner rather than later just in case the gods start dropping out of the competition.

so instead he shifts slightly so he can hold onto him. ]
I should be saying that to you, moron.

.... I'll be okay, idiot.
no subject
[ he knows that just saying that doesn't mean much in the end.
but he accepts the words nonetheless. ]
You have to win this, stupid.
no subject
You know that you do too, right? We both do.
Don't make it sound like it just has to be me...

... uh huh. We're a team.
no subject
Yeah.
[and he'll settle for continuing to hold taka close, as if the two of them being together will keep them from shattering separately]

tired.
but he's also clingy, so he sits down on the floor next to taka and immediately leans against him]
.... Majima-san is with Indulgence.
Yu-kun is with Love, for sure.
Nonon-san might be with Love.
Hector-san is probably with Ruin.
And there's a separate task that you, me, and Ray-kun are gonna split next week.
no subject
What's the task?

[fuck he didn't think that through]

[ the guy's a little exhausting to talk to
he also sees nothing wrong with the disorder thing. ]
no subject
... okay, I'll let him know.
no subject
You know the gods can get kicked out of the competition, right?
no subject
Yeah.
Do you know what that means?
no subject
It'll be one thing if it was just something they couldn't say yet, but...
[ but flat out having no fuckin idea is ????? ]

... but she did specifically say that they become vulnerable, and she doesn't know what that means only that they want to avoid it at all costs. So.

I don't like that - at all.

You're right but - that'll be even harder to convince everyone.
