It's not my specialty or anything - I'm better with a guitar - but it's easier to pick up notes for songs on this, I think.

Yeah, I'd love to! I just joined a band at my school so I'm still learning but not bad, you know?

How long have you been playing?

A few years now. I'm in my school's jazz band, too, so that's where most of the experience comes from. What kind of music do you like to play?

Hmm, I like popular stuff? I like playing stuff from the shows I'm in too, even if I'll never be as good as the orchestra. My old roommate plays a bunch of emo punk stuff, so I ended up hearing a lot of that too.

[oh well. but he seems happy to mirror her interest, apparently glad to have found a common thread]

Shows? Like, what kind of shows?

[There's a bit of a smirk, amused, but the answer is easy enough.]

I wouldn't say emo punk, but... You know. Indie rock is pretty cool. Alternative. I like the classics, too. The Beatles, Paul Simon, that kind of thing.

Oh - European and American music! [he nods along, seeming to recognize them] Mm, I want to go to those places someday.

I'm an actor - so it's a dream to be able to perform on stages in other countries.

It's alright here, I guess. Well, in America. I haven't been to Europe. I'd like to go to Japan sometime, though... Is that where you're from?

[She's assuming so because of his name, but it feels strange not to at least ask.]

You act, but there's an orchestra there? Is it, like, musical theater?

Mm-hmmm! I do aaaaaall sorts. Performing is what I'm good at, and I do a lot of it!

[and he offers up a smile]

I live in Tokyo for school now - if you ever get a chance to visit, make sure you let me know! There's a bunch of really cool music places we could go.

Yeah? How'd you get into that in the first place?

[She nods, brushing a stray strand of hair back.]

I'd really like that. I've heard it's, like, huge.

Hehe, I heard I"m a pretty good copycat - so I just took my talent to where I could do something with it.

Oh yeah, it's giant, but that's part of the fun, you know? The sprawling city is crazy! You know what I'm talking about? I'm sure America has big cities too.

A copycat? What do you mean by that?

[She nods, though, thinking about it.]

Yeah. I've been to the bigger ones for vacations. New York City, Los Angeles, Chicago... They're pretty cool.

[usogi]

Mm, you know - seeing others perform well, and then being able to recreate their performances. That kind of thing?

[he's awesome at that,]

That's so cool! Ahh, I hope I get to travel that far one day. I'd want to go eat at all the good places and see the beautiful sights and do all the cheesy stuff too!
