[senri's actually not super great at playing the piano, but he finds himself seated at the parlor anyway, plucking at a few stray notes. he seems to be lightly spacing out and just trying to pick up a melody that he'd heard in one of his shows, some opening tune that's bouncy and light.
when zoe wanders in, he perks up and gives her an apologetic smile]
Oops, sorry. Didn't mean for anyone to hear my mess.
[senri's nearly impossible to find for a long time. he goes out of his way to make himself difficult to locate, because he doesn't want to think about the mess that he left behind.
it's closer to the evening when he actually can be found again, and in this case he's just in the kitchen because sadness sometimes means that you want a snack. he's just absent-mindedly chewing on a piece of seaweed as he lightly dabs a cold, damp paper towel against his cheeks
his eyes are a little puffy, but one thing at a time.
[When Zoe enters the kitchen, it's not because she's actually hungry. She's furious, disheartened, and fearful; it doesn't leave much room for an appetite. In truth, she's not quite sure why she's here, other than some vague hope that wandering around will help clear her mind. That's forgotten for the moment when she sees Senri, though.
After a few seconds pass by:]
Sometimes it helps if you use actual ice. Like, put it in a plastic bag and hold it to your eyes, if you don't want them to be as red.
[There's something dull about her voice, anger keeping it tight and low.]
senri's trying to keep going as best as he can, but aside from him trying to keep it together in the courtyard this time, he's fairly morose for the rest of the day.
and then he'll be making tea in the kitchen - again. he turns at the sound of someone entering and offers a smile]
[it's been a fucking horrible week. senri is bundled up now more than ever, probably looking stupid in two whole fucking scarves - though he'll look up when he sees zoe as he wanders the halls of the temple]
he's so tired and he's going to be in the kitchen for a long while, leaning against the counter with a mug of tea in his hands, still covered in blankets.

No, it's okay. It was nice to listen to. I didn't know you played piano.
no subject
[and he'll make room to scoot over on the piano bench in case she wants to sit with him]
Do you play? I'm sure you could still run circles around me.
no subject
No, not piano, but - you play guitar? We could practice together sometime.
no subject
Yeah, I'd love to! I just joined a band at my school so I'm still learning but not bad, you know?
How long have you been playing?

[and he pauses for a second, pulling the paper towel away and his expression settles into a smile. it doesn't have a lot of heart, but he's trying.]
... Mm. I'll try that next. Thanks.
[he has less anger at hand. it's hard when the sadness has gripped him so entirely first.]
You doing okay?
no subject
[It's an easy answer to come to, but in turn, concern colors her expression when she moves on.]
You don't seem like you're doing so great, either.

Still just as pissed this week, Zo? Or more?
no subject
[She doesn't feel like she can really return that smile, but she does pause.]
Were you friends with any of them?
no subject
Chuuya-san was nice to me. He told me a lot of stuff, actually. I couldn't really trust him with anything in return but...
Ah, I feel bad now.
no subject
[It’s a gentle way to say that he shouldn’t blame himself or feel bad.]

Zo -
I'm so glad you're o-okay....
no subject
...Yeah. I'm glad you're okay, too.
[Or as okay as he can be, at least, with that curse.]
At least it's almost over, right?
no subject
Yeah but d-don't worry about me, I've got so used to it I can b-barely notice.
Are you still j-just as angry as last week?
no subject
[A pause, and then a shrug.]
Yeah, I don't think that's going to change any time soon. Not like it makes a difference. Apparently people are just going to keep on being stupid.

...I know one of them. Why?
no subject
... I know five.
...... so I -
I couldn't vote for her.
