Hehe - sorry, that was a little bit of a mean magic trick, huh?
[and he'll wave a hand]
If you don't say anything, then we can just call it a guess.
But... I guess I just wanted to see what your reaction would be, if I acted on something I heard. Someone told me that Yu-kun was reliable, and I agreed... but I heard some other stuff too, so I thought I'd try to find out if that was true while I was at it.
[ Yu pulls in a slow breath, and lets it out as a silent sigh. He'll run a hand through his hair.
He won't smile, but he does rub the back of his neck. ]
... I feel I may know who told you. And if that's the case, I see no need to deny it. But ... a little warning might be nice, before you spring things like this on me, [ he'll murmur, so mild it borders on humor. ]
Sometimes people have more honest reactions if they're surprised, but I also think I would've felt bad if I knew and didn't tell you for too long....
[he offers up an apologetic smile]
Mm, sorry - but thanks for not punching me.
My own alignment is a little hard to pin down... but I promise I'll make it up to you? If Yu-kun is someone that the people that I like trust, then I want to be able to trust you too.
[ Shakes his head. His smile fades. Then -- he shuts his eyes, breathes, lifts his chin, his shoulders squaring. He seems to have gathered his resolve. ]
I have faith. [ steadily, with conviction, looking at Senri head on. ] In you. In the one who told you. In the people who know.
[but he says that with a lot of earnestness, and he holds his hand out. a little bit more distant than a hug, but it feels a little bit more appropriate for this level of exchange]
Please forgive me for surprising you... but I promise I've only heard and said good things.
I... just want to find the people that I can rely on here.
..... I think I agree with you - but did anyone tell Yu-kun about how the game started? It's a story I'd like to tell, in exchange for your understanding earlier, if that's okay.
Piety was the one who thought that they should involve third party people in order to try to figure out how to decide the head of the pantheon.
Ruin sort of ran away with the idea, and it turned into this competition where people end up dying.
Ambition, Cunning, and Disorder backed the idea. Indulgence agreed too, but if you've ever met him... it's easy to believe that he just didn't think it through. Justice was threatened into agreement.
The other gods - leaving Piety, Beauty, Sincerity, Love, Merriment, and Fortune - voted against it.
Patience was the tie breaker - and that's how we ended up here, playing like this. The six gods that disagreed could've abstained from playing too.... but if they did, then only the six that were for it would've been the only ones we could've picked from.
[ . . . ]
I don't know what to do with the information yet - so far I've just been spreading it, and seeing what other people think...
[ He listens attentively, quiet, mostly unreadable. He'll absorb it in silence for a time, clearly thinking it all over. Though what he says, quietly, wondering, is: ]
Patience...
[ ... he sighs through his nose, and looks up at Senri again. ]
I've been trying to find out how they got their powers. Who brought them into this situation... but I was told it was a "what," not a "who." [ His mouth thins into a line. ] I'd hoped to find a way to stop the contest, but instead I ran into a dead end.
[ A breath in, out. His eyes narrow a little, the look on his face slightly troubled. ]
... what we need to decide is what our ideal scenario would be. If we had all the information we needed, what would we want to do with it? If we can work together and decide what we want the outcome to look like ... we should be able to figure out what to do next.
You and me both.... There's no way to consolidate the gods into smaller factions - like all the nice gods who have similar worlds - so that it'd be easier to convince people to join their side. I've already asked....
[and he sighs. deeply.]
.... some people are really virtuous here, you know? They want to try to find the best possible god to rule, and then make sure that god is the one who wins. No matter how nice someone is... they want to find the best leader and try to get everyone to join them.
[ . . . ]
It sounds hard but... I think if we can convince enough people, maybe that's the right way to do it.

Somehow, this way suits you.

Slowly, carefully, Yu will reach out and take Senri's hands, gentle and a little uncertain, but -- he'll curl their hands together, after a breath. ]
I hope I can be that person. [ Sincerely.
Yu will glance down again, his thoughts clearly working faster than he can even react to them. He'll look up again, his eyes searching Senri's face. ]
I need to keep Love safe. That's all I want.

[it's a familiar sentiment to him, actually. and his brow furrows as he offers a smile.]
... I'm trying to figure out how to win - and how to help as many people win as possible, too. So I think I need to be faster about that, but....
[ . . . ]
I really want to keep anything from happening to Beauty.
Did you get to meet him?

Yu will nod slowly. Again he smiles, and this time it's understanding. Knowing. ]
I did. He's ... someone very special, I think.
... more than anything, I'd like to see them all safe. I don't want...
[ pulls in a breath and sighs more heavily this time. ]
This contest is as rough on the gods as it is on us.

Tell me.
