... yeah. I was just thinking she'd be mad at me for fighting with my partner after all the work she's put in for hers, even though I thought he sounded - [like you] - .... well.
[another sigh and he rubs at his eyes again, as if just to make sure that no more tears will traitorously fall]
... I'm going to win. I have to win.
I need to find out if there's a way to get her god to change still....
... probably not. Since she'd be officially out of the competition now, so even if she changed her before she died...
[ he doesn't think it'll count.
he leans against the rails, since he's not sure if he should sit. senri probably still wants him gone so it'll be best to be able to make a quick exit. ]
It counts if you're on the winning god's team, even if you're out of the competition. You can still get your wish granted - that's what I was told, but if you could get it confirmed...
[he'd be happier and his shoulders relax, if only by a little bit. moving forward at least gives him less to be completely depressed about.]
... Shiks didn't switch yet. She couldn't - it happens on the weekend. But I don't think Ambition's gonna win.
it's crazy, thinking about how different the places everyone else is from. their world is so normal in comparison that taka wonders why they're even competing against these people. ]
... so there's a way for her to get revived there?
Yeah. That's the game that she and her partner were in - but I guess they got tricked and in the end, only one of them could get revived? So she wanted to revive him too...
[senri hates thinking about this because if he's absorbing shiki's wish - does that mean he's responsible for saving lives?]
You have to stop taking responsibility for other people. If this game lasts for as long as we were told, then you're going to make more and more friends. And you will make friends-- you're too obnoxious and friendly. And when you get closer to those people, the more you're going to want to make sure their wishes come true.
senri's quiet for a little bit longer, but at least he's not shoving taka off the stairs.]
... is it bad to want to make their wishes come true? Shouldn't friends support each other, and hope that they're able to reach everything that they work so hard for?
We're all playing for different reasons - and they're all really important to us. If I can help it... is it a bad thing to try to get as many wishes granted as possible?
Do you think - one of the gods might have a world for that? A world where even if people don't get their wishes granted in this game, they can stay in the new one and accomplish what they were trying to do? So even if people died before, and even if the new life isn't the exact same...
[what is he saying please send help. ugh he shakes his head.]
Maybe not. But if that's possible...
[but then again this is just senri assuming all the rules don't apply to him again]
[ . . . senri huffs out a vague breath of a laugh - and tries to pull his face into a smile. it's not as perfect as it usually is, like some part of his act has slipped but.]
[ although it might be different homes, depending on if they get their wishes. he remembers what senri said about not having to go back to the academy. ]
no subject
[ taka doesn't elaborate.
but shiki pressed him a lot about his attitude, and friendship, and it all makes more sense with newly added context. ]
You can still give the pin back at the end. You just have to still win.

[ he glances at senri then looks away. ]
You can still ask. But it defeats the purpose of killing people off, wouldn't it?
no subject
[ . . . and if he can't - what is he supposed to do? choose?
he shakes his head, as if trying to banish that thought.]
... she just didn't deserve this. No one here does.
no subject
[ for the next couple of weeks.
it seems a lot longer now. ]
no subject
and senri just deflates at that. yeah. it feels a lot longer.]
... can I tell you something that I don't know if I can tell anyone else yet?
It's about Shiks.
no subject
[ it's not like taka is close buddies with anyone to go and blab ]
no subject
.... they're sending us all back to where we came from at the end of this. That's okay for us.
But I think -
Shiks said she died already, and she was trying to come back to life already before she got here.
[which is -
also part of why senri was so upset, probably
maybe he just wants to share the burden of knowing with someone else.]

[ he finally sits down, but he doesn't move any closer to senri. ]
I'm going to say something, but you're going to call me an asshole for it.
no subject
[fair warning.
.... though he won't say anything about taka sitting down]
no subject
[ like shiki, who he has only known for a week. ]
no subject
I still think that's the nicest thing you've ever said to me?
no subject
Don't make it weird.

[ taka can admit to that much. it's a nice dream, honestly, even he can see that. ]
But we're only a week in and you're already making things harder for yourself. You're going to burn out if you keep doing that week after week.
no subject
senri looks up at the sky for that.]

[ but then he shrugs. ]
But we'll see. Just don't get depressed if you don't get everything you want.
no subject
I'll work on it.
If nothing else, we get to go home.
no subject
[ although it might be different homes, depending on if they get their wishes. he remembers what senri said about not having to go back to the academy. ]
no subject
.... you don't sound happy about it?
no subject
I never sound happy about anything.
